Belfast Law Firm John McKee Joins International Alliance of Professional Firms

John McKee Solicitors, one of Northern Ireland’s leading law firms, has been appointed as the representative law firm member in the country for Alliott Group, an international alliance of independent professional services firms. The strategic move allows the firm to extend its reach to 70 countries worldwide and provides an international framework for developing the firm’s visibility and growing its client base in different geographic markets.

John McKee, a Top 10 Northern Irish law firm, has been appointed as the country’s law firm member for Alliott Group, an international alliance (‘network’) of independent law and accounting firms with some 170 member firms in approximately 70 countries worldwide.

Managing partner Chris Ross comments: “We are a growing firm with significant involvement in the international market. Affiliation with an international group had been on our radar for some time. Having met Alliott Group representatives at International Bar Association conferences over the last couple of years, we are impressed by not only the dynamic and progressive approach of the alliance, but also the strong bonds and levels of trust and friendship that exist between members. We have not seen this in other international groups.”

Established in 1887 as a family practice (and known as John McKee & Son until 2012), The firm has specialist capability in financial services, dispute resolution, real estate and corporate legal services for internationally focused clients, as well as in restructuring and insolvency, renewable energy, employment law, IT/IP, defamation reputation management and clinical and professional negligence. The firm also acts for a large number of private clients. Over the years, the firm has established a reputation as one of the foremost banking law practices in Northern Ireland, acting for all the banks operating in Northern Ireland.

Ross adds: “We aim to strengthen our corporate services practice and grow our international client base significantly in the next few years. We see huge benefit for the firm in being a member of an international alliance and are on standby to serve Alliott Group member firms’ clients involved in the Northern Irish economy. Likewise, we look forward to referring banking and corporate clients who will need advice and representation from lawyers and accountants in other jurisdictions throughout the world.”

Alliott Group CEO James Hickey comments: “We have been talking to John McKee for some time about membership. When expanding the alliance into new geographic territories, it is important to take the time to appoint not only a firm that can provide the right level and scope of service, but also one that has the right personalities with the requisite proactive mind-set. John McKee ticks all the boxes and will prove to be an excellent addition to our group.”
