JOHN MCKEE SOLICITORS SIGN UP FOR FIRST EVER NORN IRON MAN CHALLENGE

Tue 13th Apr 2010

Action MS, Northern Ireland’s leading multiple sclerosis charity, is delighted that John McKee & Son Solicitors are supporting the first ever Toddsleap.com Norn Iron Man (or Woman) Challenge. Partner Chris Ross and Solicitor Philip McBride were the first two entrants and we wish them every success on the day! Entries are now being invited for the five-person Relay – just one 5k lap each- or you can register for the Norn Iron Man Walk- the toughest 5k walk West of the Bann.

The Norn Iron Man Challenge is an extreme running event over a 25km course set in some of County Tyrone’s toughest terrain at Todds Leap in Ballygawley.  Competitors will face 5 x 5km laps with half of all starters eliminated at the end of each of the first three laps.  Only the toughest twelve will make it through to the final!

Now due to popular demand Toddsleap.com are proud to announce two new additions to the Norn Iron Man Challenge.  Relay teams and walkers will join the 25k runners for an 11am start on Sunday 18th April at Todd’s Leap, Todds Leap Road, Ballygawley.  Free T shirts for all finishers plus a free bowl of Ironman stew (made from real iron men.)  A donation of £20 per entrant will help to raise £10,000 for Action MS support services.

Entrants include members of the Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association (NIMRA) and Athletics NI (ANI).

Top local mountain runner and NIMRA member Karen Alexander represented Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Mountain Running Championships recently, finishing in the top 10.  Karen, who recently ran the course along with NIMRA President Ricky Cowan, said:

“This is a great course – especially if you don’t mind getting muddy and like a bit of fun.  It is a really tough challenge and the final few laps are really for seasoned off-road runners.  A few obstacles in there too which will really add the fun factor.  The Toddsleap.comNorn Iron Man Challenge looks set to be a top competition.”
