Andrea McCann

Andrea started with John McKee & Son as a trainee solicitor in 1996. she has remained with the firm since her qualification in 1998 and became a Partner in January 2008.

Andrea has particular specialism in employment and equality law matters. This ranges from advising clients on employment and personnel matters by offering accessible professional advice and guidance to representation at the Industrial Tribunal. Her employment work also extends into the firm's corporate work by advising on TUPE and Director's service agreements.

Andrea recently acted for an employer who was awarded one of the highest cost orders made against a claimant to date in this jurisdiction. She hs also recently acted for a major lending institution in defending a race discrimination case.

Andrea also has specialist knowledge of licensing matters including applications not only for Liquor Licenses and Hotel Licenses and more recently she was successful in obtaining a bingo licence for a client who operates in the leisure industry.

Andrea specialises in the field of Judicial Review on behalf of a union client against the Government in relation to implementation of EU Directives relating to te agricultural industry.

As an experienced commercial lawyer, Andrea is a key member of the banking team and acts for an English based pension scheme administrator in commercial property transactions including the sale, purchase and leasing of commercial property all over Northern Ireland.

Andrea is Staff Partner within the firm overseeing personnel matters with a staff of over 50.

Andrea tutors in Company Law course at the institute of Professional Legal Studies at Queens University and spends her free time running after her two young children.
