Chris Ross

Chris Ross

Chris joined John McKee & Son in 1998 and became a partner in the firm in 2003.

Having qualified in England, Chris holds an English Practising Certificate and can therefore represent clients involved in disputes in England as well as Northern Ireland. Before returning to Belfast, he worked in Liverpool for Weightmans, one of the most respected defence insurance practices in England.

While Chris’ main aim is to help clients avoid disputes where possible, he adopts a proactive approach when disputes do arise. He is skilled in running all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, mediation and arbitration.

Chris acts for a number of large commercial clients in the construction, transport, finance, ICT and insurance industries.

He recently advised a leading construction company in relation to tower crane and  scaffolding licences, advising specifically on issues arising out of the oversailing of the client’s tower cranes over neighbouring premises.

Chris acted for a large Australian winery in relation to a dispute over a distribution agreement involving a local distributor. During the course of the case, he worked closely with the client’s legal team in Australia.

Chris is a former Chairman of the Belfast Solicitors’ Association and is the partner responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility within the firm. He has devised a range of initiatives to encourage greater social awareness and help reduce the firm’s carbon footprint.

Away from the office Chris enjoys taking part in triathlons and adventure racing, although finding the time to train can be difficult as he is kept very busy by his two active daughters.
