Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

We are committed to social responsibility in terms of our community and our staff

Our Community Commitment

We develop and support today's youth for tomorrow's society, by offering work placements throughout the year for students interested in Law and other areas where appropriate. We have a commitment to people and have been successful in achieving the Investors in People accreditation.  We are currently discussing other ways of developing our commitment to this area and how we can incorporate social objectives into our firm e.g. paid placements.

Over the last 2 years our lawyers have provided pro bono legal advice to the following organisations:-

  • Ulster Reform Club
  • Early Years
  • City of Belfast Swimming Club
  • Girl Guiding Association
  • The Welcome Organisation
  • NI Children's Hospice
  • NI Chest Heart and Stroke
  • Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk
  • Action MS

Our People Commitment

We have an active Social Committee and the firm is committed to personal development and have an effective appraisal system in place. We are accredited members of the Investors in People Award scheme and carry out its principles throughout the firm. At John McKee we are proud to promote a culture of diversity, equal opportunities and inclusivity amongst our staff. Our staff select various charities throughout the year and hold monthly in-office fundraisers. We have also been engaged in:

  • Take Art for Action MS – an art auction at the Titanic Building;
  • Action MS Action Week;
  • Partner Chris Ross completed the Giantkiller – a 182km cycle ride around the North Antrim Coast culminating in a heart pounding climb over Torr Headraising over £4,000 for the charity.
  • Partners Chris Ross and Philip McBride went so far as to don a frock and wig and join Team May to run the Belfast Half Marathon to round off Action MS Action Week 2014
